FAQs
Where will sessions take place?
Depending on your preference, sessions can take place in person in Aberdeen city centre, online via video call using Zoom, or by telephone.
What days and times can I have my sessions?
I offer sessions Monday – Thursday 10am- 9pm / Friday 10am – 5pm
How often will I have a session?
The frequency of sessions will depend on the nature and severity of issues that you are experiencing, and what best suits your needs and preferences. To begin with sessions usually take place on a weekly basis for you to build and maintain progress. Sessions might then move to fortnightly or monthly as your confidence grows and you feel better able to practice the skills and strategies learned more independently.
How much will each session cost?
The cost of each session is £75.00. Payment can be made in cash or balance transfer at the end of each session.
How long do sessions last?
Sessions last 60 minutes.
How many sessions will I need?
This is completely up to you. The duration of your counselling often depends on the type of difficulties you are experiencing and their severity. Generally, most clients benefit from a minimum of 6-8 sessions whereas others prefer more than this. I will check in with you on a regular basis (every 4 – 6 sessions) to get feedback on how you feel the therapy is going, what you feel you have benefited from and what you would still like to work on. Of course I do also welcome feedback at any time.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session?
Cancellations less than 24 hours in advance of a session will be charged at the full session fee unless there are exceptional circumstances.
What can I expect in the initial free 20 min. chat?
After you contact Gemini Counselling for the first time, we will arrange an initial 20 minute chat either via telephone or online via Zoom to give you opportunity to explain what brings you to seek counselling at this time. You can also ask me any questions you may have about me and / or the therapy process. We can then discuss if CBT is the right therapeutic approach for you.
This initial chat is free of charge, and you are not obligated to arrange a counselling session if you do not feel that my service is the right one for you.
What can I expect in the first session?
During our first session, you will have the opportunity to tell me about the problems you are experiencing in greater depth. This is when we begin to get to know one another, and I can advise on the ways in which CBT can help. I will also introduce strategies that you can try to help work through the problems you are experiencing right from the first session.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes, all sessions are strictly confidential. Information discussed in therapy, as well as any personal details you share, will not be disclosed to anyone without your explicit consent. However, there are certain circumstances where confidentiality may need to be breached to protect you or others, such as risk of harm to you or others, or child or vulnerable adult protection issues. Whenever possible, I will discuss these situations with you and seek your consent before taking any action. A full confidentiality policy will be given to you prior to commencing your first session.
**If you have any other questions, please get in touch either via email or phone and I will be happy to answer them.
